People are being exposed to toxic PFAS chemicals because some corporate polluters are putting profit over health and safety.
As PFAS contamination has spread across drinking water systems, farms, and communities nationwide, State Attorneys General are increasingly stepping in to protect public health and hold polluters accountable.
These lawsuits address a range of harms tied to PFAS contamination, including widespread pollution of drinking water and natural resources, costly cleanup efforts, and allegations that some companies knew about PFAS risks for decades while continuing to market products as safe.
Across political parties and regions of the country, Attorneys General are taking legal action to recover cleanup costs, protect communities, and ensure polluters, not communities and taxpayers, are held responsible for the long term health and financial costs of PFAS contamination.
The chart below lists the 33 state Attorneys General (AGs) who have announced litigation against PFAS manufacturers, tracked as of May 2026.
